From the beginning

It all started at 76th St & Madison Ave in New York, NY. Mary started her first job out of college at The Carlyle Hotel where Marcie was the Hotel Manager. They instantly connected with their passion for people, love of luxury, and zest for travel. Marcie was promoted to Managing Director, at the Inn of Anasazi, the first female MD for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. Mary was promoted to Rosewood's Corporate office in Dallas, TX to head up the learning and development department. Six months after Mary arrived to Dallas, Marcie was promoted to Senior Director of Operations for Rooms & Spa. They were thrilled to be back in the same city, even though they didn't spend much time in Dallas, TX. Marcie and Mary traveled together opening and transitioning properties as well as visiting existing locations. The time came when Mary decided to take on the hardest job she's ever had...mom (of 3 boys!). Marcie took the opportunity to consult and provide guidance to numerous operating properties as well as notable openings such as Baha Mar, Nassau, Bahamas. Marcie and Mary continued to connect and collaborate on projects together and are both certified Executive Coaches through the International Coaching Federation.

Where they are now

Twenty years later, Marcie & Mary co-founded Kyanite & Co. They recognized that their beloved industry was missing something...updating. Quickly they identified three key areas to modernize: leadership, luxury, and measurement. With an acute focus on leadership, they minimized the tools to maximize effectiveness. Then they turned their attention to luxury, an overused word that is now synonymous with "sameness". Marcie and Mary challenge each property to go beyond the luxury industry service standards and live their brand promise as designed. Once again, Marcie and Mary nail it on the head and created a measurement tool that validates if a company is living their brand through values, brand promise, guest experience, and marketing tag-lines. As the saying goes, 'what gets measured gets done'.
Coming from a coach-centric background they do not judge right or wrong, good or bad, just whether you are living the brand how it was defined. Their philosophy is "to be the best, is to be your best". Marcie located on the West Coast and Mary on the East Coast, makes zoom and skyline lounges their Global Headquarters. |
